Daily mobile grooming van checklist.
What to check before the first appointment and after the last one, so a van never leaves without water, power or the right supplies. Print it and keep it in the van.
Before the first appointment
- Walk around the van: tires look inflated, no new dents or scrapes, lights and turn signals work.
- Enough gas for the day’s route.
- Generator oil and fuel checked, and it starts and runs without warning lights.
- Fresh water tank full, and the water heater on and reaching temperature.
- Waste water tank emptied since yesterday.
- Air conditioning or heat working in the grooming area.
- Tub, table and dryers working, and clippers and trimmers charged.
- Pet restraints, grooming loops and tethers in good condition.
- Fire extinguisher and first aid kit in place.
- Doors, steps and ramp secure, and every cabinet latched for driving.
Supplies for the day
- Shampoo, conditioner, and ear and eye cleaner stocked.
- A clean towel for every appointment, plus spares.
- Blades, brushes and combs clean and ready.
- Cleaning and disinfecting supplies.
- Waste bags and trash liners.
- Treats, bandanas or bows, if you hand them out.
After the last appointment
- Empty the waste water tank and refill fresh water for tomorrow.
- Clean and disinfect the tub, the table and the floor.
- Clear hair from drains and filters.
- Wash or swap out used towels.
- Put clippers and batteries on charge.
- Note anything that broke or ran low, with a photo, so it is fixed before the next shift.
- Fill up if the tank is under a quarter, and keep the receipt.
- Close every vent and window and lock the van.
Once a week
- Check tire pressure with a gauge.
- Compare generator hours with its service schedule.
- Clean the dryer and air conditioning filters.
- Look over hoses and water connections for leaks.
- Review open problems and upcoming maintenance dates.
